What's your pre-ACA employer insurance horror story?

or

What's your post-ACA employer insurance cautionary tale?

Did you have insurance through an employer before the ACA provisions existed? Did you max out your benefits? Did you hang onto a job for fear of losing your insurance because of a pre-existing condition?  Were you fresh out of college and in insurance limbo (can't stay on parents policy / can't find job with benefits?).

Submit your story today.  Stories don't have to be wordsmithed or long  (please - no more than 750 words, max): just tell me what happened.

By submitting your stories, I have your permission to include them (in part or in full) on this blog as well as promote them on Twitter/Facebook feeds. I'll credit all stories with your First Name and Last Initial, just your initials and city/state or you can remain anonymous -- it's up to you.

Horror Story or Cautionary Tale? How Do I Know?

I'll be honest, I'm making this up as I go, but here's what I (kind of ) use as a guideline:

Cautionary Tale:  You or someone you love got sick. Really sick. Probably after the ACA was implemented and in some way, you realized how different your situation might have been, had you gotten sick a few years earlier.

Horror Story:  You or someone you love suffered physically or financially because your employer sponsored insurance plan wasn't comprehensive enough to cover your sickness or to keep you insured.
